Oceanco is continually exploring new yacht DESIGNS, both with global world-renowned designers as well as with its own in-house design team. These ‘concepts’ designs represent much more than the proverbial back of the napkin sketch – all are viable and technologically feasible.

Amara, Oceanco’s newly designed and engineered 120-meter private yacht concept, was designed in collaboration with Sam Sorgiovanni Designs.

Oceanco revealed the lifestyle philosophy of creating a yacht designed for extended families and friends. Amara provides unparalleled living and entertainment facilities for up to 20 guests. The contemporary interior with natural timber, stone and textural carpets and fabrics blend to create an inviting and natural environment. “In designing the exterior lines of Amara, the idea was to portray a very strong and muscular form that was progressive in design but with a timeless appeal. Its long bow accentuates the vessel’s generous proportions. Most importantly, the interior and exterior design work in harmony to create a holistic feeling of a relaxed well-appointed resort.

The lower level deck opens up to reveal an expansive beach club resort that offers 3-way access to the sea; port starboard and aft. Also on this deck is a comprehensive wellness area with banya, hammam, beauty treatment lounge and a cinema experience for 16 persons.

A waterfall from the upper deck cascades down into the main deck swimming pool. And the main deck is party central, featuring a stunning pool bar, opening balconies and large entertainment areas. The upper deck has an outstanding owner’s apartment with a private plunge pool and openair aft deck dining for 20+ people.

The gym with a capital view is located on the bridge deck. For intimate gatherings there are two Majilis-style areas aboard. In addition to the cinema on the lower deck, there is a quixotic cabana style open-air cinema on the sun deck.  For young guests and those young at heart, there are accommodations for fun sports equipment such as a climbing wall and water slides.

The idea behind the 90m Project Cosmos is to have a yacht where you can be in touch with and enjoy your surroundings yet still be in a controlled environment.

This concept led to the creation of a glass dome, a luxurious empty space completely covering the upper deck. This provides an interesting tension between being adventurous and being safe. The glass dome, while it looks simple, is extremely complex. The entire yacht will have a huge empty space on the top deck creating a unique open layout with the dynamic dome floating optically above the hull.

The glass can be dimmed or coloured to support a desired mood.

In addition to sporting the completely innovative glass dome, the forward moving angles of the yacht’s lines give it an additional progressive profile.

Aptly named, Spectrum was conceived by Nauta Design and Oceanco to encompass a broad range of possibilities, both in terms of her propulsion system and her living spaces. Extensive investment in hull form research and development provides a refined hull shape which, when coupled with the hybrid propulsion system enables Spectrum to cruise in a variety of efficient modes. She maintains a sleek, streamlined profile, which allows lower resistance through the water. Her layout over five decks provides a gamut of flexibility.

Tuhura, Oceanco’s latest project, conceived in collaboration with the Lobanov Design studio, BMT Nigel Gee and interior designer Achille Salvagni, is truly in a category of its own, unlike any yacht on the market. Its design harkens back to ancient times. The exterior styling is reminiscent of early canoes; dugouts and other vessels used hundreds of years ago by indigenous people all over the world. The Polynesians, in particular, famously made long voyage explorations across thousands of miles of open Pacific Ocean in their outrigger canoes. The thinking behind revisiting basic primal forms is to evoke a sense of exploration and discovery. In fact, the actual name, ‘Tuhura’ is derived from the Maori verb meaning: to discover, bring to light, unearth, open up, explore, and investigate.

The main inspiration for the interior design is East Asia and the Pacific islands. Achille Salvagni refers to the interior as a “brushed teak habitat” (floors, walls, ceilings) including thin reveals in gunmetal and natural bronze with tatami floors. “Tuhura is a megayacht conceived for a dynamic owner, nevertheless the timeless sense of peace and calmness are the main characteristics,” “This softness and dynamicity are reflected in the humble elegance and sensuality of the primitive organic shapes echoed throughout.”

Innovation and cutting-edge technology is evident throughout the design. The hull has been conceived with multiple horizontal windows, utilising an advanced glass technology that consists of a series of dots, allowing the view from within to be completely transparent, while from the exterior, the windows appear the same colour as the hull, disguising their appearance. Glass features further in the impressive black superstructure made up of flat glass panels.
